Funeral costs and financial assistance

If you’re on a low income and need help to pay for a funeral you’re arranging, you could get a funeral payment. How much depends on your circumstances and if you qualify.

Any money you get is usually paid back from the deceased person’s estate (if they have one). Visit GOV.UK for further information.

For anyone who has served in the armed forces, it may be possible to obtain assistance with funeral arrangements. You can find further information at Veterans UK, The Royal British Legion, or The Royal Navy Benevolent Trust

Please read our Public Health Funeral Policy
