A family fun day saw children enjoy fun and games, meet new furry friends, and get glitter tattoos with Princess Elsa.
Foxgloves Children's Home hosted the event for young people with additional needs, along with their families.
Highlights of the event included a bouncy castle, karaoke, a selection of animal visitors courtesy of ARK Farm, a Name The Bear competition, and a visit from Princess Elsa (from Disney’s Frozen) courtesy of Little Wishes Princess Parties.
The children's home, in Bromham Road, provides short breaks and respite care for up to six children at a time who have physical and learning disabilities, and those with complex health needs. The Foxgloves team also run a wide range of outings and activities throughout the year, with the children actively involved in helping to decide where they go and what to do.
Residential worker and activity co-ordinator Jade Burkitt said; “At Foxgloves, we firmly believe in creating spaces and opportunities that celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity, and foster a sense of belonging for all that come along to our events.
“It’s been inspiring to see everyone come together, share their experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations and engage in several different activities.”
Councillor Jane Walker, Portfolio Holder for Valuing Families: Children’s Services at Bedford Borough Council said; “It was such a pleasure seeing these young people enjoy themselves at Foxgloves.
“We’re dedicated to helping all our children and young people in Bedford Borough to thrive, and it’s inspiring to see the passion for and dedication to their roles that the team at Foxgloves show every single day.”
