English as an additional language

We offer support to nurseries, primary, secondary schools and other learning settings, to improve their provision for children and young people who have English as an Additional Language, Black Asian and Minority Ethnic and New Arrivals (EAL, BAME).

We offer support, training and advice to improve the educational outcomes of vulnerable pupils who are at risk of underachieving. We do this through:

  • Developing approaches to raising standards, PSGs, facilitating partnerships and offering direct interventions for specific underachieving groups.
  • High quality training and consultancy on leadership, EAL management, assessment, teaching and learning, curriculum development, cultural and religious diversity and race equality.
  • Development of effective self-evaluation processes and the co-ordination of provision for BAME and EAL learners.
  • Collaborative planning and teaching, ensuring full access to the curriculum e.g. differentiation, inclusive curriculum and EAL pedagogy and most effective teaching and learning approaches.
  • Providing strategies for effective engagement with parents and communities.
