From interactive creative sessions to captivating storytelling sessions, Bedford Borough Libraries and The Higgins Bedford are both set to provide a vibrant and enriching experience for children and parents alike.

With a focus on creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning, the half-term events aim to encourage young minds to explore the wonders of literature, history and the arts. All Bedford Borough Libraries and The Higgins Bedford will offer a wide range of activities and workshops for various age groups and interests of local children, ensuring there is something for everyone.

Elected Mayor, Tom Wootton, said, "We are thrilled to present these exciting half-term activities for families in Bedford Borough. Bedford Borough Libraries and The Higgins Bedford are valuable community resources and these events provide a wonderful opportunity for children and parents to engage in educational and entertaining activities together.

“We strongly believe in fostering a love for learning from a young age, and these events contribute greatly to this. I encourage families in Bedford Borough to take full advantage of these fantastic opportunities."

Highlights of the half-term events include:

Storytime Extravaganza: Let your children’s imagination soar as library staff read stories in that will transport them to magical realms with tales of adventure and wonder. Each library has it’s own themed Storytime planned.

Artistic Adventures: Unleash your inner artist with hands-on art workshops, where children can experiment with different techniques and create their own masterpieces to take home. Free drop-in craft events are planned at all the libraries. The Higgins Bedford has sessions which must be booked and paid for in advance, such as drypoint etching for teens and tweens, Creative Days art and craft workshops and create an ancient sea creature mobile.

Time Travelers: Embark on a journey through history with interactive sessions that bring the past to life. Children aged 5 – 12 years old can join members of Bedfordshire Geology Group to explore rock formations, find our about fossils and make a Jurassic clay trace fossil of an ammonite to take home.
