Guardrails and safety fences

Guardrails, sometimes known as railings, are installed to keep pedestrians safe by preventing access to live traffic. They are often found near schools to keep children safe.

Safety fences/barriers on roads are installed to prevent access and control the movement of traffic, for example, they help to prevent vehicles from moving into the wrong lane.
