What is Self Assessment?
Bedford Borough Adult Social Care Services Department is committed to helping people live safe and fulfilling lives in their own homes.
Self assessment gives you the opportunity to assess your own care needs or enable someone to support you in doing the assessment. This service is aimed at adults (aged 18 or over) who are finding looking after themselves increasingly difficult. For example if you or someone you know may be having difficulty getting in and out of the bath, managing stairs or with some aspects of personal care.
Self assessment gives you the opportunity to carry out an assessment of your needs from the comfort of your own home as we believe that you and the people closest to you can best assess your care needs.
Who can use this service?
A self assessment can be completed by anyone aged 18 or over who lives within Bedford Borough Council's boundary (see map of Bedford Borough) and is finding it increasingly difficult to maintain their independence.
Carers, friends or family can also complete the self assessment on behalf of someone else living in the Bedford Borough area. If this is the case, we will always contact the person concerned to check that they have agreed to this, so it is really important that you let us know if the person you are completing the self assessment for is aware that you are doing this on their behalf.
