On 21 December 2021, the Government announced additional assistance for hospitality and leisure businesses affected by the Omicron variant, in the form of further grant payments.

Omicron hospitality and leisure grant 

As a result of the latest Omicron Variant, The Government has announced further assistance in the form of a one off grant for Hospitality, Leisure and Accommodation Businesses.

The following thresholds apply for these businesses:

  • Qualifying businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or less on 30 December 2021, will receive a one-off grant of £2,667.
  • Qualifying businesses with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 30 December 2021, will receive a one-off grant of £4,000.
  • Qualifying businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 or above on 30 December 2021, will receive a one-off grant of £6,000.

Additional restrictions grant top up 

As a result of the latest variant, the Government has also announced it will be providing further funding to top up Bedford Borough Council’s Discretionary Grant fund.

This “Top up” will allow the Council to assist businesses severely impacted by the rise of the Omicron Variant, and who do not qualify for the above main Government led grant scheme.
