Despite the current situation, we are continuing to offer exciting musical opportunities to children and young people in our community. The Bedfordshire Youth Choir has developed an online offer and we plan to combine this with some live rehearsals in small groups from October. The Saturday Morning Music Centre (now run by the Bedford Music Cooperative) is being relaunched on 3 October. Bedfordshire Music Trust are taking bookings for chamber music courses on the weekend of Friday 30 October and are planning a new ukulele course later in the term.
To help keep singing alive in our secondary schools, Music from Bedford Borough are trialling a new online choral initiative called Choirantine Youth. This aims to give young people across our local area an opportunity to sing regularly and to create a sense of unity during these difficult times.
Even though there are many challenges, our primary schools are working hard to deliver amazing musical experiences for all our children in the Borough. Your child has opportunities to be involved in a wide range of projects provided by Music for Bedford Borough including whole class steel pans lessons, composing using iPads, samba, ukulele, guitars and African drumming. We loan class sets of instruments and many schools use their musically talented staff to inspire children on keyboards, violins and a whole range of brass and woodwind instruments.
