Despite the current situation, we are continuing to offer exciting musical opportunities to children and young people in our community. The Bedfordshire Youth Choir has developed an online offer and numbers are growing each term. Our wonderful group of singers are keen to get back to singing together live but we continue to celebrate and share their achievements through video performances. The Bedford Music Cooperative are keeping the wide range of musical groups offered through the Saturday Morning Music Centre and Friday Flyers alive through some online provision until restrictions are lifted.
After the success of our initiative to help keep singing alive in our secondary schools - Choirantine Youth – Music for Bedford Borough are now offering this to our primary schools. Choirantine Youth aims to give young people across our local area an opportunity to sing regularly and to create a sense of unity during these difficult times: bringing together singers from a number of different schools.
Even though there are many challenges, our schools are working hard to deliver amazing musical experiences for all our children in the Borough. Your child has opportunities to be involved in a wide range of projects provided by Music for Bedford Borough including whole class steel pans lessons, composing using iPads, samba, ukulele, guitars and djembes. We loan class sets of instruments and many schools use their musically talented staff to inspire children on keyboards, violins and a whole range of brass and woodwind instruments.
