Independent Supporters

Would you like help from an Independent Supporter?

Independent Support is a Government funded programme until March 2016 which will provide Independent Supporters in your local area to work directly with families and young people (aged 0-25) to find their way through the changes to the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system, including in particular:

  • New entrants to the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and plan
  • Children with a Statement transferring to an EHC plan
  • Young people with a Learning Disability Assessment (LDA) transferring to an EHC plan.

Core Assets Children’s Services and Bedford SEND Advice (formerly Bedford Parent Partnership Service) are working in partnership with Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum and Bedford Borough Council to provide Independent Support services in Bedford.
