Reablement support workers

Salary: £18,065 - £18,426 pro rata per annum

Hours: Various shifts available, 16, 20 and 25 hours per week (with the opportunity to work additional hours).

Contract: Permanent

Reference Number: P000837

Reablement is about giving people over the age of 18 the opportunity, motivation and confidence to relearn/regain some of the skills they may have lost as a consequence of poor health, disability/impairment or an accident, and to gain skills that will help them to maintain their independence.

It’s about helping people to find new ways of doing things. We work with adults across Bedford Borough whose independence may be at risk if they do not receive this service from us.

Reablement Support Workers are required to provide 'hands-on’ personal care to service users and must be able to carry out physical care tasks, handling and moving techniques (experience of manual handling is preferred, but training will be given).

Reablement provides a temporary service and will be provided for up to a maximum of six weeks. The emphasis will be to encourage the individual ‘to do’ for themselves, not to ‘do to’ for them. Trained staff will work with individuals in their own home to ensure that they are supported and enabled to practice daily living skills safely. Reablement also facilitates safe and timely hospital discharges.

The Reablement Service is committed to developing a culture of promoting independence and has a strong teamwork ethic. This service runs between 7:30am and 10pm, 365 days a year.
