Reablement helps people over the age of 18 to regain their independent living skills. They may have lost these skills due to poor health, disability, impairment or an accident. It’s about helping people to find new ways of doing things.
Reablement Support Workers provide 'hands-on’ personal care to service users. They must be able to carry out physical care tasks. Manual handling experienced is preferred, but training will be given.
Reablement provides a temporary service and will be provided for up to a maximum of six weeks. The emphasis will be to encourage the individual ‘to do’ for themselves, not to ‘do to’ for them. Trained staff help people safely practice daily living skills in their own home. Reablement also facilitates safe and timely hospital discharges.
Reablement promotes a culture of independence and has a strong teamwork ethic. This service runs between 7.30am and 10pm, 365 days a year.
