East West Rail (EWR) has launched a consultation on its proposals for the route its railway will take through Bedford Borough.
We would urge everyone to examine the consultation material on the EWR website in order to understand the proposals, and to comment on them directly to EWR.
The consultation runs until 9 June 2021.
We are also keen to hear your views on the options presented. If you would like to tell us what you think in addition to completing the EWR questionnaire, you can use the form here. The closing date for responses is the 14 May 2021.
Once we have considered all of the EWR proposals and received your views, the Council will formulate its own response to the consultation, which will be debated at Full Council.
You can read more about our response to earlier consultations on East West Rail here.
We are holding two virtual meetings to hear views from residents and businesses on what they wish to see in the Council’s response to the current East West Rail Company consultation. These meetings will be streamed on YouTube.

To submit a question or comment please email EWRpublicmeetings@bedford.gov.uk. All questions and comments will need to be submitted by 8am on Friday 7 May.
We are expecting lots of interest and so it is unlikely that everyone that submits a question will be able to take part. All the questions and comments received by the deadline will be collated and a selection of people will be invited to speak at the meeting, with a time limit of three minutes each, to ensure as many points are covered as possible, in an organised and efficient way.
Please see our press release for more information.
