Volunteering options with Bedford Borough Council

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your local community as well as providing many benefits to your mental and physical health.

Whatever your background, skills, experience or the amount of time you can give, we would like to hear from you.

We have lots of different volunteering opportunities at the Council, take a look below and click on the links to find out more.

Community volunteering

Community volunteering is mostly based around improving our parks and green spaces. You could get involved in organised litter picks, planting and conservation.

Volunteering at The Higgins Bedford

The Higgins Bedford is our museum and gallery. Volunteer opportunities include greeting visitors, taking part in creative events or helping with in the Higgins shop.

Volunteering in our libraries

Volunteering in our libraries could involve organising books on shelves, helping with events or acting as a “digital buddy” to residents who need help online.

Volunteering at the Archives Service

Volunteering at the Archives Service might mean you get involved with cataloguing collections, repackaging collections, transcription or data entry.
