Report Abandoned Vehicle
Please telephone Environmental Services on 01234 718060 or
use the
on-line form.
When you report an abandoned vehicle you will be asked for the
following information:
- Details of where the vehicle is located
(please be as accurate as possible)
- Colour
- Make and model
- Registration number
- Condition (e.g. smashed windows, tyres
missing, untidy etc)
- If the vehicle is taxed, and if so, the
expiry date.
- How long the vehicle has been left
there
Please have as many of these details as possible to hand before you
contact us. The Council will inspect any vehicle reported and
will only remove a vehicle if the Inspector is satisfied that the
vehicle is, in his opinion, abandoned.
In making this decision the Inspector will consider a range of
factors such as the age and condition of the vehicle, whether it is
displaying valid tax, and anything that indicates that the vehicle
is not in regular use.
The Council will not normally remove a vehicle that is taxed
and in good condition unless there is strong evidence that it has
not been in use for a long time and has been left on the
highway or on private land without permission of the
landowner/Highways Department.
IMPORTANT: Please do not report a vehicle unless you have good
reason to think that it may have been abandoned.
If the vehicle is causing a parking problem,
please contact the Parking Shop on 01234 718057
or click here for more information.
If you want to report a vehicle that is causing an obstruction of
the highway, please call the police on their non-emergency number
for North and Mid Beds 01234 841212.
If you want to report a vehicle that is not abandoned but is not
displaying a valid tax disc, please contact DVLA on 0800 0325
202.
