Sports Zone

Sport Zone is a weekly sports club run
by Bedford Borough Council Sports Development Unit. It provides the
opportunity for young people between the ages of 6 – 25 years old
who have a learning or physical disability (and their siblings) to
have fun, develop skills and try new sports in our multi-sport and
multi-skills clubs.

Multi-Sports: Saturdays 10am
– 12pm
The original sports zone sessions run
weekly at the Bunyan Centre throughout the year (excluding 3 weeks
at Christmas) and are designed for 8 – 18 year
olds. The sessions consist of a multi-sports programme
with a variety of local coaches delivering the sessions along with
our qualified staff to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for
all. The sessions also give the young people a chance to develop
new and improve existing skills whilst experiencing new
activities.

Multi- Sports: Wednesdays
5.30pm – 6.30pm
This mid-week sports session is an
extension of the Saturday morning club and runs during term time
only. The club usually runs between 5.30pm – 6.30pm but this is
dependent on the availability of the venue and the activity. Please
refer to the weekly timetable for the exact times. The club is
designed for 8-18 year olds and provides sports
coaching in a variety of sports.

Multi-Skills: Saturdays 12pm –
1pm
The multi-skills club is designed to
improve the fundamental aspects of movement including agility,
balance and co-ordination for 6 – 16 year olds.
This club will run from the 12th September to the 12th December
initially as a pilot. The club is designed for those individuals
who lack confidence in participating in physical activity and may
find the multi-sports sessions too advanced
and challenging.

participating in physical activity. The programme will consist of
