      2009

With over 1400 participants Dance 4 All 09 (which took place Saturday 17th October) was a huge success.

Dance 4 All is a Community Dance Festival show casing all forms of dance in and around the Bedford Borough. The brain child of the Sports Development Unit at the Bedford Borough Council the Festival is now is it’s 3rd year of running.

“The performers were really inspiring, got to try out a wide range of different dances. The price was really good and I really enjoyed the whole day. Thank you.” Participant from 2009

Based in the Corn Exchange, Howard Room, Harpur Suite and Civic Theatre, the day offered taster sessions, an exhibition area and also a stage for performances. With over 30 different dance clubs and organisations Dance 4 All offered a wide variety of different dances from Street Dance to Salsa, Ballroom to Bollywood and Tango to Tap.

There were also dancing in the street at ‘Boots Corner’ (next to Marks & Spencer’s) with a huge following of over 200 onlookers.

Amy Rance Events Co-ordinator said, “Dance 4 All is a really good event as it allows dance clubs from all different backgrounds to participate in a community festival. We have established Dance Colleges that compete at international level to a dance group that attended Dance 4 All 2008 and decided that they would form a crew called ‘Untouchable’.

Dance 4 All is aimed at people who have never tried dance before and also those who have mastered one form of dance and would like to expand their skills. The festival is a great opportunity to have fun, meet new people and also see what dance activities there are available in Bedford.

Amy continued, “I would like to thank the clubs and organisations that participated plus all the people who attended the festival. We have had really positive feedback and are already planning 2010 which will be on 16th October 2010!”

2007

A Community Dance showcase for all forms of dance, all ages and all abilities!

Bedford's first Dance Festival had over 1500 people turned up to watch demonstrations on the Corn Exchange stage, try taster sessions in the Howard Room and Harpur Suite and view stands held by dance classes and associations.

The largest class was Two Step Fitness (Street Dance) with a whopping 60 people participating in the half hour taster session. The largest performing group was Urban Funki Munki's with over 60 students on stage from little kids aged 5 to grown adults doing flips.

For extra publicity there were dance demonstrations outside in Bedford town centre. Come rain and shine the dancers performed different dances from break dancing to tango, street dancing to Rock 'n' Roll.

'I would like to thank all the dance classes that demonstrated and taught lessons as the dance festival would be nothing without you!!!

I would also like to thank all the 1500 participants who took part in the Dance 4 All, we will hopefully be holding another festival next year.' Amy Rance (Coordinator)
