Russell Park

Russell Park Time Gardens

Russell Park lies on the Embankment and provides sports facilities, recreation space, a community cafe and herbaceous gardens. It was opened as a recreation ground at the end of the 19th century about 10 years after the widening of the river and opening of the Suspension Bridge. It still provides opportunities for residents to get active with a large play area, football pitches, tennis courts, a ping pong table and putting facilities.

The Kiosk at Russell Park

Since opening in 2012, The Kiosk has been breathing life into the community with the help of great coffee, fabulous sporting facilities and plenty of fresh air.

You’ll find Ethical Addictions direct trade coffee served here, reviewed as “the best al fresco coffee in Bedford” alongside rich hot chocolates, frappuccino’s, a huge selection of organic and herbal teas and soft drinks galore.  Panini’s and sandwiches are made fresh as well as hearty soups in the winter, and like sister venue The Pavilion in Bedford park, fresh homemade cakes and traybake's delivered daily made by locals in the community including Gluten Free options.

Little free libraries - books for little kids and big kids too, Monday morning storytime, charity fun runs, open air theatre performances, Easter Egg hunts and the biggest Christmas carol crowd at Christmas.
