Outdoor Sports in parks

Bedford & Kempston's parks offer a range of sporting activities.

Some are free access, others require reservation and a booking fee. See below for details. If you don't see it here, call 01234 718349 for more information during working hours.

Tennis: free hard surface tennis courts are available in Bedford Park, Allen Park, Mowsbury Park, Addison Howard Park, (Kempston) and Southfields Recreation Ground (Kempston). Please note that the tennis courts in Russell Park are subject to seasonal hire fees payable and bookable at the Kiosk. For more details about the Kiosk, see Putting below.

Table tennis: there are currently two table tennis tables in Addison Howard Park and Russell Park and there will shortly be another in Jubilee Park. Please note that in Russell Park only there is a hire fee at weekends from Whitsun  to the end of September and every day during the Easter and Summer Holidays. The tables in Addison Howard Park and Jubilee Park are both free use (bring your own bat & ball).

Putting: is available at Russell Park during spring & summer school holidays and some weekends. The Kiosk is now serving light refreshments and open over longer periods so we will be extending the days that the putting green will be open in 2013. To check opening times or enquire about booking, you can call the Kiosk on 01234 271877.

Football and rugby:  these playing seasons begin in September and run until the end of April. Pages of information about our football and rugby pitches will be available from July onwards.

Angling in Priory Country Park: find a spot and a Ranger will sell you a ticket when they conduct their rounds.
