Harrold-Odell Country Park

Explore 144 acres of award winning parkland that includes a nature reserve, two picturesque lakes and a stretch of the River Great Ouse.

Enjoy a quality breakfast and light lunch in the Café followed by a stroll round on well laid paths or a spot of bird watching from the hide. There are places to picnic (no barbeques) or simply immerse yourself in nature.

Fishing Permits (charges from April 2018)

You can purchase a 2018/19 fishing permit either:

By phone: please call 01234 718177; payment can be taken anytime Monday to Friday between 9.30am - 4pm. Your permit will be sent to you in the post or, if you need it urgently, you can collect your permit from Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP.

From the Country Park Wardens at Priory Country Park or Harrold Odell Country Park. Please note that cash can no longer be accepted on site so payment by credit or debit card must be made over the phone (this can be done whilst you are with the Warden).

 

Please note that you will need to provide evidence that you have a current EA rod licence and if you wish to purchase a concessionary permit you will also need to provide proof of age, or proof that you are in receipt of a disability allowance.

Day Fishing Permit Cost:

Adult: £46

Concession / Junior (under 17) and OAP: £19

Day and Night Fishing Permit Cost:

Adult: £71.50

Concession / Junior (under 17) and OAP: £30

The Dragonfly Cafe

 Harrold Odell Country Park in Bedford is set to become an even more attractive location. The Council can confirm that following a tender process, Churchill Catering Ltd are operating a new Café in the park called The Dragonfly Cafe. 

 

Churchill Catering Ltd are a family catering company who specialise in the development and management of country park cafes and restaurants. They operate cafes from Surrey to Scotland in both the business and leisure sectors.

 

The Café has been refitted and up to £50,000 has been invested by Churchill Catering. They are providing a menu with healthy and traditional choices and high quality Lavazza coffee.  Those visiting the Country Park are now able to taste the quality of their coffee brand and food as The Dragonfly Cafe is now open for business.

Drones & Radio Controlled Vehicles

Please note that Bedford Borough Council prohibits the use of all* drones or radio controlled vehicles within their parks and open spaces.

 

*The use of a drone or radio controlled vehicle at an event may only be permitted in exceptional circumstances and when a professional company and/or event organiser have approached Bedford Borough Council for prior approval.
