Parks and Open Spaces

Bedford Borough Council is responsible for maintaining many
varied parks and green spaces from urban and country parks to small
patches of green in residential areas.
Best known to visitors is the riverside promenade
running through the town centre made up of the
Embankment Gardens,
Russell Park and Mill Meadows.
The ornate Victorian Suspension Bridge across the river was opened
on the same day as Bedford Park,
another Victorian gem situated to the north of the town centre at
the end of the imposing De Parys Avenue.

In the Parks and Open Spaces area of the
website you will find individual pages with information on the
urban and country parks owned and managed by Bedford Borough
Council as well as recreation facilities in parks and
greenspace.
You will also find pages on local In Bloom
campaigns of which the Parks Team is an active partner. In
Bloom is a growing movement across our area, much encouraged by
Bedford's success in recent years at both regional and national
level.
