Support for Carers

Carers Cafes

The Carers Cafes are somewhere the carer, cared for and immediate family can go to meet new people, socialise and enjoy the services being provided.  Support and information for carers is available alongside a variety of activities and treatments. These include massages, facials, hairdressing, chiropody and activities such as photography and microwave cooking demonstrations.  More information available here

Carers Breaks

Carers in Bedfordshire are funded by  NHS Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group to assist carers with costs towards something that would improve their health or wellbeing, allow them to take a break from their caring role or access training.

Carers can apply for a grant of up to £300 towards a service that benefits their health and wellbeing.  Visit the Carers in Bedfordshire website for more information.

Carers Lounge

Carers in Bedfordshire has two Carers Lounges based in Bedford Hospital, on the ground floor in South Wing and Luton & Dunstable Hospital in St Mary’s Wing.

At the Carers Lounges you will be able to meet carer support workers and on different days there will be staff that specialise in areas of supporting carers.  They are there to offer advice, support and information to visiting carers of all ages and to identify new carers.

So if you are visiting the hospitals, please call in for a coffee and a chat!  No appointment or referral is needed. More information and contact details available here.

Carers in Bedfordshire run a range of support groups that are open to all carers of any age and any background. They are a great place to meet other carers in a similar situation, or to have a chat with one of our experienced support workers.  Read here for more information.
