Climate Local Commitment
Bedford Borough Council was one of the first local
authorities in the country to sign the new
Climate Local Commitment, which was developed by the Local
Government Association (LGA). It was designed to replace
the Nottingham
Declaration on Climate Change, which the Council signed in
2007, and aims to drive, inspire and support council
action to a changing climate.

The Climate Local
Commitments and Actions document sets out the commitments
and actions that the Council intends to carry out over the
next few years to mitigate and adapt to climate change. These
actions will address the aims and objectives set out in the
Council’s Climate Change Strategy 2012/13 – 2015/16 . The
Climate Local Commitments will be regularly reviewed and progress
against actions monitored and reported on annually.
