Recycling Waste

Why recycle and compost your waste?

Recycling and composting waste is an important part of reducing your household's impact on the environment. Bedfordshire is running out of landfill sites and government targets are encouraging all of us to play our part in reducing and recycling waste.

Bedford Borough Council encourages residents to recycle at least 75% of this rubbish via the orange recycling scheme for recyclable materials (paper, cardboard, and cartons, all plastic food packaging, metal packaging and worn out textiles) and a green waste scheme for garden waste.

The Council also provides a network of Mini Recycling Sites for recycling materials such as glass, paper, textiles and shoes. For information on where your nearest site is please download the list below.
