Great Denham & West of Kempston
Land at Great Denham and Land West of
Kempston
Both sites are located to the west of
Bedford. Great Denham (formerly known as land at Biddenham
Loop) is now a Parish in its own right. The site abuts
Bedford Golf Club to the north, Queens Part to the East and the
River Great Ouse to the south. Its West boundary is formed by
the newly opened A421 A428 Bedford Western By-pass.
Land west of Kempston is on the south side of
the river and is again contained by the by-pass to the west and the
A421 to the south and by the established edge of Kempston to the
east.
The combined sites will provide for up to 2760
dwellings and 7722 square metres of employment space. Also
included in this comprehensive urban extension is: -
• Provision of a country park, open space,
playing fields, footpaths/cycle routes, district centres, social
housing, schools and sports/community facilities.
• Provision of a Park and Ride from the Great
Denham site.
Work on both sites has commenced with
approximately 317 homes occupied in Great Denham and
approximately 80 homes occupied in West of Kempston. House
occupations are increasing each month.
House builders currently include David Wilson
Homes, Barratt Homes and Lagan Homes.
