NOTE
In the light of the Chancellor
of the Exchequer’s recent announcement about an emergency Budget on
22nd June and the need to reduce public expenditure by £6 billion
overall in 2010-2011, specific grants and programmes (including the
Youth Opportunity & Capital Fund) are subject to decisions by
Ministers between now and the June Budget.
We have been advised by
Government Office (GO East) that we are only able to award quarter
1 of our total annual award. This means that for round 2,
closing on June 11th at 4pm, we have a total of
£8,000 for
opportunities (YOF)
£7,000 for capital
(YCF)
to be awarded. Until
notification is received at the end of June from GO East as to the
future of Streetcred (YOF / YCF), the scheme will be suspended from
June 12th 2010.

Streetcred is a fund
available to 13 - 19 year olds (up to 24 with disabilities) who
live or go to school in Bedford Borough to apply for money for
something to do (youth opportunities) or somewhere to go (youth
capital). For 2010 / 2011, Bedford Borough has been allocated
£160k from Central Government for the Streetcred
Panel (young people) to award to projects and activities that fit
the following criteria -
- planned and led by the young people
applying
- takes place between April 2010 - March 2011
- is for a group of 13 - 19 year olds (up to 24
with disabilities)
- takes place outside of the school day /
curriculum
- supports at least 2 of the Every Child Matters
outcomes
- is for young people who live or go to school in
Bedford Borough
- provides something positive to do / or supports
equipment costs / or supports building refurbishment
The Panel have set deadline dates for
2010 / 2011 as below
- Deadline 1 - Thursday April 1st 2010
4pm (funding will be available for projects from June half
term until March 18th 2011)
- Deadline 2 - Friday June 11th 2010 4pm (funding
will be available for projects from summer holiday until March 18th
2011)
- Deadline 3 - Friday Sept 17th 2010 4pm (funding
will be available for projects from October half term until
March 18th 2011)
- Deadline 4 - Friday Dec 10th 2010 4pm (funding
will be available for projects from February half term until
March 18th 2011)
