How to Apply for a School Place

Admissions to nursery schools, nursery units or nursery classes

A list of Local Authority maintained nursery schools is available. If you would like your child to attend a Local Authority maintained nursery school you should contact the headteacher of the school, who will explain the arrangements for applying for a place.

Many lower schools also have nursery units or nursery classes. If you would like your child to attend the nursery provision in a local school, you should contact the headteacher who will explain the arrangements for applying for a school place.

Admissions to lower schools

Children are normally admitted to school at the start of or during the reception year, that is the school year in which they become 5. Parents of children due to be admitted to school at this time will be required to complete the Local Authority application form.

This facility will be available to you at the start of the admissions process. If you do not have access to the internet you can collect the booklet and application form from your local school or you can contact us for the information.
