Music for Bedford Borough
Children and young people’s
lives are uplifted through exciting, engaging and challenging
opportunities both in and out of school that make sense of music
from their own and other generations, genres and cultures. They
understand that their music and artistic participation has a number
of access-points and progression routes from infant to adult
through a broad-range of high quality teaching, ensemble and other
opportunities. As a result, knowledgeable, confident and musically
skilled individuals enjoy enriched lives; contribute to vibrant
communities and some, to our nation’s creative industries.
Our aim to continually provide
and develop the best possible musical opportunities for all young
people in our area is driven by the principles outlined in our
six strategic strands:

The Sing On Concerts took place on 20,
21, 22, 23, 27, and 28 June 2016 at the Corn Exchange, Bedford.
Lower and Primary schools in Bedford Borough joined
together to take part in a series of massed singing concerts!
The events gave young children the chance to sing in a large choir
with hundreds of other children of the same age. The range of
music was eclectic, including music from popular films, pop
songs from the charts, hymnal songs, songs with singing and
acting solos, and many exciting dance moves throughout.
There was also a guest performance from the Bedford Children's
Choir. The will continue to be fantastic vocal opportunities
provided by Music for Bedford Borough in the years to come!
'Wider Opps' Play
4 July 2016
Over 600 year 4 pupils showed off the
skills they acquired in just 15 weeks of learning instruments in
the 'Wider Opps' programme! With the excitement of joining with
fellow performers from other schools and with support from Music
for Bedford Borough teachers - these beginner instrumentalists were
an encouragement to us all in demonstrating the value and
enjoyment of music education.
