Admissions

Foxgloves respite home for Young People with Learning Disabilities

Admissions:

Admission to the unit is via the social work team. A social worker will assess the young person and family's needs to consider what is an appropriate placement and make a recommendation at panel to approve the placement.

The social work team can be contacted on 01234 363222.

Stays for young people who receive short breaks usually vary from 1 to up to 8 nights per month. The number of nights per month is decided at the Bedford Allocation Panel (BAP) which considers the social workers assessment and resources available.

Key Points for families:

  • You must be allocated a place by your social worker (this has to be agreed at Bedford Allocation Panel)
  • Foxgloves must have all relevant documents in place before your placement can begin.
  • Tea visits will be arranged prior to your child's first over night stay.
  • Transport to the home from school will be set up by the social worker, where this is required.
  • Each child is allocated a key worker, who takes extra interest in their care. The key worker will liase with the family, school and social worker.
