Early Years and Childcare

Here you will find useful information about the work of the Early Years and Childcare team.

There are many aspects covered by the team including:

• Providing comprehensive information, advice and guidance on registered childcare, activities and family support services for parents and carers of children aged from 0 -19 years through the Bedford Borough Family Information Service
• Ensuring childcare and early years places are of high quality through providing support and assistance to childcare providers in areas such as training, the Early Years Foundation Stage, equal opportunities, recruitment and business and finance issues.
• Recruiting and training people interested in working with children and young people.
• Supporting the Children's Centre programme in Bedford Borough.
• Providing funding for free early education and childcare for eligible 2 year olds.
• Providing 3 and 4 year old nursery education funding.
• Developing a high quality childcare workforce through offering training and qualifications and ensuring that there is adequate childcare to meet the needs of parents in Bedford Borough.
• Undertaking the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment
