Training for Schools

Continuing Professional Development for the Children's Workforce across Bedford Borough

We want to ensure that everyone who works with children and young people, whatever their role, has the skills, knowledge and motivation to do the best job they possibly can.  We are able to support staff and learners by providing valuable learning experiences, which in turn should have a beneficial impact on performance in the workplace.

The Workforce Team offers a training programme available to staff  working in Bedford schools, academies and the private, voluntary and independent sector.  In addition, there is a separate training programme for staff working in Children's Services, particularly those in a social care role, and professional support role.  Please find below the appropriate links to the programme that most suits your continuing professional development needs.  There is a range of training events available, from mandatory first aid training, to specialist training to support pupils with SEN.  These opportunities are designed to help staff develop their skills, whilst recognising their different roles supporting children, young people and their families across Bedford Borough.  We want everyone who works with children and young people to think of themselves and to be recognised as part of the local children’s workforce.

Supporting Families through Integrated Working

Supporting Families through integrated working focuses on undertaking a holistic assessement to assist practitioners to work better together in supporting the child or young person and their family, using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF). The CAF requires professionals to be more responsible for being part of the 'solution' for many families and now forms the basis for supporting integrated working.
