Police and Crime Commissioner Elections 2012

The first elections of Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC) will be taking place across England and Wales (excluding London) on 15 November 2012.

Residents of the Borough of Bedford will have the opportunity to vote for the first ever Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner.  British, EU and Commonwealth citizens will be eligible to vote if they are on the Electoral Register.

There are 41 Police Authorities in England, and Police Area Returning Officers (PAROs) have been appointed to run the elections in their Police Authority Area.  Mr Trevor Holden, Chief Executive of Luton Borough Council, has been appointed as PARO for Bedfordshire.

Elections will be held every four years, and voting will take place using the the supplementary vote system, which is the same style of voting for which the Mayor of Bedford Borough is elected.
