Data Protection

Bedford Borough Council ensures any personal data collected will be retained securely for as long as necessary and only used for legitimate Council activities to facilitate the delivery of Council services, or for the purpose of preventing and/or detecting fraud and/or crime, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.  Further information can be found in the Data Protection Policy .

 

Subject Access Requests

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you are entitled to request access to personal information held about you by Bedford Borough Council. 

Please read the Subject Access Guidance Notes and  forward to us a signed letter explaining  which information you require.  Or, if you'd prefer,  you may complete the  Online Subject Access Request Form, or alternatively, you can download an   electronic Subject Access Request Form  either which can be completed in accordance with the guidance notes and posted back to Bedford Borough Council, Records Access, 2nd Floor, Riverside Building, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford. MK42 9AP

 Please be advised that there is a £10 charge for providing this information - please send a cheque payable to "Bedford Borough Council" with the signed letter or copy of the request form. 

If you'd prefer, you are welcome to visit the Customer Services Centre on Horne Lane, Bedford (the old Civic Theatre) with your documents, where staff will be pleased to help.
