Election for Mayor

Bedford Borough Council has announced that a Mayoral election will take place on Thursday 15th October 2009, following the sad death of Bedford’s first directly elected Mayor, Frank Branston.

The election will give all voters across Bedford Borough the chance to have their say on who will be appointed as the new Mayor.

Polling stations will be open throughout the borough from 7am to 10pm.

The voting count will take place at the Bedford Corn Exchange on Friday 16th October.

The appointment will last until May 2011 when the Mayor and all councillors will be up for election.

Nominations for candidates who wish to stand as Mayor can be submitted between the 10th and noon on 18th September.

Nomination papers and other information about the election will be available on the Council’s website http://www.bedford.gov.uk/.
