BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL SCORES A
HATRICK OF SUCCESS FOR BLUE PERIS MOUNTAIN CENTRE
For the third year running, Bedford Borough
Council has had their Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality
Badge renewed at Blue Peris Mountain Centre.
The LOtC Quality Badge was launched in 2009 as
part of a national initiative to ensure young people are given more
opportunities to have outdoor experiences as part of their
curriculum.
Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for
Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Council, said: “To secure
this achievement for the third year running is a stunning
achievement. The centre sets the benchmark for the delivery
of educational sports and leisure activities in a safe and secure
environment.”
Blue Peris Centre Manager, Mark Richards,
said: “Being awarded the LOtC Quality Badge is a real coup for all
the staff here as it shows that we offer young people the type of
high quality learning experiences they really benefit from. We're
thrilled to get official recognition for our efforts and we look
forward to welcoming even more children and young people from the
local area to our outdoor education centre.”
The LOtC Quality Badge offers teachers a
guarantee that not only is a venue providing the sort of
educational value that they can build on in class long after the
visit, but they also have the appropriate risk management
structures in place.
