Changes to bin collection days in Bedford Borough come into
effect from Monday 15th October.
The changes will save taxpayers’ money, reduce the Council’s
impact on the environment and maintain a weekly black bin
collection for all residents and are being implemented following an
extensive awareness raising campaign to inform residents ahead of
the changes being introduced.
More than three quarters of households will have a new collection
day from 15th October.
By now, all households should have received a leaflet detailing
all the changes and explaining the reasons for them. The
leaflet confirms the collection day and provides a new recycling
calendar for the next 12 months, as well as providing a wealth of
information about recycling opportunities.
In addition, a dedicated webpage and postcode finder allows
residents to quickly and easily check their new collection day,

All households are asked to make sure their bins are available
for collection by 7am on their collection day (even if their day
has not changed) as the new rounds will also mean that your usual
collection time is likely to change.
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “This is the first
time for more than 10 years the Council has reviewed the bin
collection rounds and the new, more efficient routes, come into
effect from Monday 15th October.
“More than three quarters of the 67,000 households in the
borough will have a new bin collection day from Monday and it is
important all local residents read their leaflet or visit the
dedicated webpage to ensure they know what the changes will mean to
them.
“The new and more efficient collection routes will help us save
taxpayers money while maintaining the level of service for all
households. Everyone will still have their black bin rubbish
collected every week, with recycling and green waste still on
alternate weeks.”
