Budding Questions Put To The Mayor
Tuesday 26th October
2010
Young people had the Mayor of Bedford Borough,
Dave Hodgson, all to themselves on Saturday 23rd
October, as he attended the launch of the new Connexions Drop In
Centre in Greyfriars, between 2-4pm.
The event hosted a joint ‘Mayor’s Surgery’
session with Martin Leggett and Carla Delahunty, both Members of
Youth Parliament (MYP). On the day, a number of young people who
have worked with, and been supported by, Integrated Youth Support-
Connexions, Youth Service (IYSS) and Engagement and Development,
had gathered to chat to the Mayor on items of interest to them.
Both parties were equally interested in talking to one another.
The Connexions Drop In Centre offers an
impartial information, advice and guidance service to all 13-19
year-olds, and up to 25 year-olds for individuals with learning
disabilities.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson,
said: “I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the young people I
met. They asked some very interesting questions and shared their
backgrounds and experiences with me. It was the perfect opportunity
to hear directly from this age group on issues that matter to them.
I think one or two individuals were surprised when I even had
questions to put to them!”
