Music Unites Young People at K-Town

The K-Town Music Studio in Kempston is
bustling with young, gifted artists from all over the Bedford
Borough area since the Council refurbished the Kempston Youth
Centre in May 2009.
The studio has served to bridge the gap
between ‘hard to reach’ young people in the area and bought them
together under the banner of music. The K Town Music Studio boasts
state of the art acoustic properties and has been built to the
highest specification.
The talented youngsters also took it upon
themselves to raise funds to enhance the development of the studio
from organisations such as StreetCred (£600), Kempston Town Council
(£1000) and various other Kempston charities.
Cllr Nicky Attenborough awarded the studio
with £1000 that went towards informal education to teach the users
of the facility more about music / video production, performance
and writing.
Cllr David Sawyer, portfolio holder for
Children’s Services commented: “The studio has given some young
people who are ‘hard to reach’ the opportunity to be heard through
music and showcase their creative musical talent, realise their
potential and thereby a chance to raise their achievable
aspirations, self confidence, self-esteem and
motivation.”
