Discounted water butts sell out in record time!
Due to unprecedented demand, Bedford Borough Council would like
to announce that the subsidised water butts which were available to
local residents, have sold out in record time!
The Council announced in March that 190 litre capacity water
butts were available at a discounted rate to Bedford Borough
residents. Just over a month later and all 100 have been sold!
Water butts are still available for the price of £28.95 (100l)
or £38.95 (190l) and include a buy one get one half price offer.
These offer prices are still very competitive in relation to the
prices available generally for these models. Orders are
limited to 2 water butts per order.
Environment Portfolio Holder Councillor Charles Royden said:
“Despite the wet weather of recent weeks, East Anglia is still
officially experiencing a drought while a hosepipe ban is also in
place for borough residents. Therefore, it is still important that
we try to conserve water wherever possible.
“The demand for water butts this year has been unprecedented.
Last year, we sold 75 water butts all year. This year we have sold
all 100 in just over a month!
“Water butts are a simple and relatively cheap way of saving water
and collect the rain from the roof of your house, shed or garage
and can be used to water the garden, saving you money on your bills
and cutting down water usage.”
