Road Signs
THIEVES TARGET BOROUGH COUNCIL ROAD
SIGNS...
Thieves have been indiscriminately targeting
road signs, removing poles and signs using metal cutting
equipment.
A number of signs have been unlawfully
removed, some of which were discovered discreetly left in a field,
presumably for collection by the thieves to be sold later as
scrap.
In addition to the obvious safety implications
for road users of missing road signs, their removal can also leave
dangerous holes in the pavement where the posts used to be.
Mayor Dave Hodgson said: “Road signs are there
for a reason; to keep people safe. This kind of theft puts lives at
risk and displays an utter disregard for the safety of others. We
ask the public to be vigilant and call the Police immediately if
they see anything suspicious.”
If you witness a road sign theft, please contact
