Priory Lower - Outstanding
Priory Lower School is the second school
within the borough to be recently graded as 'Outstanding' following
an Ofsted inspection carried out last month.
Priory Lower School is a small multicultural
school situated in the centre of Bedford. Ofsted noted that its
pupils make excellent gains in their personal development.
The curriculum meets the needs of its pupils extremely well and
consequently pupils develop a very positive attitude to
learning.
Priory Lower School's Head teacher, Anita
Hemsley, said: "There is an excellent commitment from all staff to
provide each pupil with the very best possible education. Priory
Lower School is now officially 'outstanding' and I am so proud that
our school's excellent organisation and strong, shared vision
demonstrate its capacity to continue moving forward."
The school also hosts an Early Years
Foundation Stage provision in a Nursery unit and a Reception class
where children thrive and learn to cooperate with each other. The
school has achieved the 'Basic Skills Award', 'Healthy School
Award', 'The ICT Mark' and the 'International Schools Award'.
Ofsted's report went into detail on how
'pupils of all abilities and from a wide-range of backgrounds
achieve well and that the school is extremely popular with parents,
carers and pupils who appreciate and acknowledge the high quality
care and exciting learning opportunities'.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson,
said: "This report is a tribute to the hard work of all the staff
and students at Priory Lower School. Everyone involved deserves
congratulations for helping to foster a school ethos which is
talked of in glowing terms in the inspection report. I am not
surprised at all that the school achieved the highest Ofsted
Inspection grade.”
