Family Fun Day - With A Difference
Wednesday 24th March
Come and join the party, on Saturday 27th
March, at Queen’s Park Neighbourhood Centre, Marlborough Road,
Bedford, from 2-6pm. This is an exciting event which celebrates the
rich diversity of the borough. It’s in the Mayor of Bedford
Borough’s diary, and he will be attending from 2 – 3pm.
Bedfordshire’s New Migration Partnership and
Bedford Borough’s Queen’s Park Neighbourhood Centre have teamed up
with a host of other partners to deliver a fun-packed afternoon of
family entertainment, performances and foods from across the
world.
Family fun on the day includes an: ice-rink,
bouncy castles, magic shows and balloon-sculpting. Performances
include: World Poetry, African Drumming, Asian Dance, Polish Song
and Dance, Italian Performers and Street Dance. World Foods, for
tasting on the day, will include: Asian, Italian, Eastern European,
African and Vegan and raw foods.
There will be lots of opportunities during the
event for new migrants to talk about, and record, their experiences
of settling in the Borough, both through a video booth and an art
competition. The event will also provide migrant families with
opportunities to access information, support and advice from a
range of service providers. Free health checks for those aged 40-75
will also be available throughout the day.
This event is an excellent example of how
strong partnership working across organisations and departments can
lead to fantastic results for local communities
and families.
