National Athletics Championships Come to Bedford
NATIONAL ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
COME TO BEDFORD
Bedford will once again be hosting a national athletics
championship at Bedford International Athletics Stadium on the
16th and 17th July.
The England Athletics 2011 National Senior
Track and Field Championships will be show casing the best sporting
talent in England such as Olympic High Jump finalist, Tom Parsons
and the 200m Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Leone Baptiste.
Athletics fans all around the region will be flocking to the
stadium for a chance to witness the sporting greats of tomorrow and
some potential 2012 Olympic stars in action.
Bedford International Athletics Stadium has
built up a very good national reputation over the years. It hosts a
diverse range of national competitions due to its widely recognised
outstanding facilities offered to athletes and spectators. In late
2010, the stadium underwent refurbishment to install a new state of
the art, eight lane floodlit race track. It is the same type of
running surface that the London stadium has for the 2012
Olympics!
Councillor Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for
Leisure and Culture said: “Bedford is proud to host the National
Track and Field Championships. The Bedford International Athletics
Stadium is truly a great asset to our town in attracting the best
sports men and women Britain has to offer with its top of the range
facilities that cater for all manner of sports.”
The event is open to spectators and tickets
are £5 for adults and £3 concessions. Please call 01234 35115 or
