Seed Sharing Saturday returns to Bedford town centre
The third annual Seed Sharing Saturday takes place at the Bunyan
Meeting Free Church on 3rd March.
The free event brings green fingered enthusiasts together and
provides a fun and friendly atmosphere to meet new people as well
as swapping seeds as well as tips to improve your garden or
allotment.
Organised by Bedford Borough Council, BTCV, Zero Carbon Castle
and Mile Road Allotments, the previous two events have seen an
increasing number of visitors and stalls taking part. It is hoped
that this year will be the biggest yet, with stalls run by various
In Bloom groups from around the borough as well as groups and
organisations supporting the In Bloom ethic. As well as free seeds
and advice, there will be a free food tasting stall of home-made
fare, honey products from a local beekeeper, talks on Bedford’s
famous Laxton Bros and local orchards, a local Veg Box scheme and
free activities for kids.
Councillor Sarah Jayne Holland, Portfolio Holder for Community
and Regulatory Services, said: “Seed Sharing Saturday has proven
itself to be a family friendly and popular event for a wide range
of people. From those looking to grow their own food to anyone who
likes to do a bit of gardening in their spare time.
“It promises to be another fun, friendly event for all and I am
hopeful the third Seed Sharing Saturday will prove to be the most
popular yet.”
Seed Sharing Saturday takes place on Saturday 3rd March at the
Bunyan Meeting Free Church, Mill Street between 11am and
2pm.
