New Head teacher
Robert Bruce Middle School has appointed, a
new Head teacher; Karen D’Angelo will start her post in September
2012.
Karen’s current position is Assistant Head at
George Pindar Community Sports College, located in Scarborough -
after completing 18 months as an Associate Deputy Head within this
school on a management program. Karen also has previous experience
of working in inner city schools in both Birmingham and
Coventry.
Cllr David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for
Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: “A good Head teacher
can dramatically impact upon a school’s whole ethos and can serve
to achieve great things in terms of educational delivery. We will
continue to work with the school to drive up standards as we
welcome Karen onboard and look forward to the school’s future.”
Karen D’Angelo said: “Robert Bruce Middle
School is a place where each child is valued. I feel privileged and
honoured to be given the opportunity to work with the staff,
students, parents, governors, and this community to build on the
school's strengths. We will work together to deliver the
highest quality teaching and learning and a wide range of
activities that test the students and meet their individual needs.
I want to strengthen the links with feeder primary schools and
secondary schools to create more opportunities for the whole
community to come into the school so that the students understand
that learning is a life-long process. Education does not finish at
the end of the school day it is about the buzz of discovering that
your opportunities are endless. I am relishing the challenges
ahead.”
The school’s last Ofsted inspection, carried
out in November 2011, reported that considerable progress had been
made since the testing of pupils in the summer and therefore
reached the conclusion that improvement is ongoing.
