Superhero Awards - we are all heroes in our own way
Young people will be recognised in the
‘Superhero Awards’ to be held on Friday 19th February from 4 - 7pm,
in Bedford.
Children and young people, who are in the care
of Bedford Borough Council, have been nominated for awards by their
social workers, recognising their personal achievements over the
last 12 months - 75 nominations had been received. The Superhero
theme was developed by members of the RAW (rights & wrongs)
group made up of young people from social care.
Those individuals nominated to receive an
award will have impressed their social workers with a number of
attributes such as: outstanding educational achievements, their
support with participation groups, improved behaviour, making good
progress with independent living, 100% attendance at school.
Cllr David Sawyer portfolio holder for
Children’s Services said: “I am delighted to be able to play a part
in this heart-warming awards ceremony. In the face of adversity,
these young people have battled on with determination and grit and
have achieved great things as a result. Their attitude to life will
mean their futures will know no bounds.”
During the ceremony, a Knife crime DVD will be
showcased, along with a musical performance by a young person, and
the Urban Funki Munki dancers.
