The Real In-betweeners
Thursday 9th December
2010
Young individuals seeking advice on sexual
health, alcohol awareness, wellbeing and relationships are invited
to attend ‘The Real Inbetweeners’ event, from 10 – 4.30pm,
at the Harpur Suite, on Wednesday 15th December. The
event aims to provide advice to young people as they progress from
their teenage years into adulthood. The Mayor of Bedford Borough,
Dave Hodgson, will launch the event at 10am.
The day will host a combination of
performances from young people, with workshops taking place so
individuals can participate and discover more details on a number
of projects taking place across the borough. Spokespeople will also
be on-hand to deliver information face to face in a relaxed
atmosphere.
The event will celebrate the
achievements and progress that has been made by embracing
partnership working, a number of organisations such as Sharnbrook
Extended Services, Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS), Upper
and Middle schools, students, independent projects, agencies and
Bedford College have worked together to highlight and support the
work being carried out by young people for young
people!
The Mayor, Dave Hodgson, said: “The transition
from adolescence to adulthood can be a difficult time for teenagers
and during this period they may need access to safe and sound
advice. We want to offer support and encourage people to make the
right decisions. This is particularly relevant for young people as
they can experience added social pressures and changes and yet have
their whole lives ahead of them.”
