Woodside Middle School's Monitoring Visit Finds...
Monday 6th December
2010
Her Majesty’s Inspector of Education,
Children’s Services and Skills (HMI) has completed a second
monitoring visit to Woodside Middle School since the school was
placed in special measures in November 2009.
The inspection found that since the start of
the new school year pupils’ progress at Key Stage 2 had
accelerated, under the outstanding leadership of the Executive Head
teacher Gill Peck, and the stronger teaching, more positive climate
for learning and high expectations that she has embedded in the
school.
There had been good progress in English,
mathematics and science by the pupils now attending the Mark
Rutherford site.
Absence across both sites has fallen and
improvements in behaviour are notable.
The Local Authority has supported the school
well and done everything to ensure that arrangements for the
split-site provision have been completed quickly.
Executive Head teacher, Gill Peck, said: “I am
extremely pleased with the report. It accurately reflects the
excellent progress the children have made this year. We are
looking forward to further progress during the course of the
year”.
