Bedford Sports Awards 2010
The evening of the 14th December witnessed the
biggest ever gathering of Bedford sports people from across the
borough that has possibly EVER taken place!
The annual Bedford Sports Awards took place in
the Corn Exchange, and hosted over 350 guests. Organised by the
Borough Council Sports Development Team, the event aims to
recognise the many achievements and contributions that local people
make to sport.
There were 11 different award categories and
organisers received a record number of nominations from clubs,
schools and individuals from across the borough.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson,
said: “Bedford Borough Council has been delighted to support this
event which was a fitting tribute to the growing sports talent
across the borough. I congratulate all of the athletes and all of
those who support them.”
Cllr Doug McMurdo, portfolio holder for
Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Council, said: “Bedford has
a range of sporting facilities to be proud of and I am delighted
that we can help grow and maintain such a high level sporting
talent. The recognition of volunteers who have given a lifetime to
