A 'Small Change' will Prove Much Better
Friday 13th August 2010
It’s no longer a problem if you don’t have
cash and you and want to park in Ashburnham Road Car Park, close to
Bedford Railway Station. As of Monday this week, one of the
cheapest places to park for the day (at only £5), now has pay and
display machines that accept credit/debit card payments (as well as
small change).
The car park, which was formerly the old Focus
stores parking area, has had both its pay and display machines
updated, so as to offer its customers a more convenient way of
making payment.
The machines still do not accept notes, and
customers had previously had to ensure they had enough coins on
them in order to make their exit after their stay. Those wishing to
park their car for the day would have had to ensure that they had
£5 worth of small change on their person, in order to pay the daily
rate.
Cllr Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for
Environment & Transport, at Bedford Borough Council said:
“We’ve all been there, were we have to make sure we have enough
change for the car park and you can often get caught out, which is
a bit of a nuisance. Maybe you have to extend your stay in the car
park, as you make a dash to a cash machine, and then buy something
in order to change a note into coins! This will free people up
considerably, and should make their trip into Bedford much more
enjoyable and convenient.”
Season tickets are also available from the
‘Parking Shop’, located at 26 Harpur Street, Bedford.
