Get Involved with Bedford River Festival
Thursday 1st April 2010
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, is
urging anyone who wants to be a part of the 2010 River Festival to
get involved!
This year’s event takes place along the River
Great Ouse on the 17th and 18th of July and is expected to bring
300,000 people to the Embankment and Russell Park for two days of
family fun and entertainment.
Local residents, teams and businesses all have
a part to play and can still get involved.
With just over three months to go, now is the
time to gather a raft race or dragon boat team, get your names down
and maybe even do some training – with thousands of spectators you
might as well give yourself the best chance possible! The 20 foot
dragon boats are already provided but teams in the raft race will
have to build their own boat too, all the more reason to hurry
along!
The 2010 River Festival is the biggest free
event in the region – and second only to the Notting Hill Carnival
nationally – meaning it offers brilliant opportunities to local
businesses.
The River Festival also showcases what many of
Bedford’s local businesses have to offer. Many are already involved
through sponsorship and attendance on the day, with more expected
to confirm their support by the April 16th deadline.
Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said:
“The 2010 River Festival is fast approaching and I know a lot of
hard work has already gone into making this year’s the biggest and
best festival yet. However, the weekend still needs people and
businesses to get involved
“The River Festival is a source of immense
pride for me and many people across the borough and I urge anyone
who can to get involved and ensure 2010 is the best yet.”
