Council Mourns Death of Former Mayor

3 April 2010

We are sad to announce the death of Councillor Ray Oliver.

Councillor Oliver who had been unwell for sometime joined the council in 1986 and represented Kempston North. In 1990-1991 he was elected Mayor of the Borough.

Chief Executive of Bedford Borough Council, Philip Simpkins said:

“It is with great sadness that I learned today of the death of councillor Ray Oliver. Ray’s passing will be a great loss to the Councillors and staff that he worked with over his many years as a councillor. We will all miss the hard work he put into getting the best for the borough and his dedication towards those he represented in Kempston.

Our thoughts are with Sue and their family at this sad time.”
